Changing Communities Through the Power of God’s Love
We are a student-led group committed to spreading the gospel, transforming lives, and establishing local churches in rural villages
Our Story
Bringing Hope, Building Faith, Transforming Communities…
Mission subgroup is an offshoot of the Church Relations Subgroup (CRS). The Church Relations Subgroup (CRS) was established to link the Baptist Churches around and the fellowship. The subgroup members also help the growing churches in town to teach in their children’s department and other areas in which they may be useful. The Mission subgroup is reaching out to the villages in Ile Ife environs. Mission work in Ile-Ife environs started with the activities of the Southern Baptist missionaries who established, among others, Erefe Baptist Church (Now Christ Way Baptist Church, Erefe), Aroko Baptist Church and Akeredolu Baptist Church in the 1950s. The missionaries were teachers in the Baptist Teachers’ Training College (Grade III), Ile-Ife under the leadership of Miss Lena Lair. They were taking care of the mission outlet until the phase-out of the college which led to their leaving the area. After the missionaries left, the churches ceased to function since they could not find anybody to serve as the leader after the white missionaries left the area. Baptist churches in Ile-Ife took up the challenges of the village churches but could not carry on after a while.
Some Of Our Activities
Holiday Missions
Holiday Missions is a program initiated during the 2008/2009 session under the leadership of Adeyemo Samuel and Pastor Sanmi Oyedeji. It takes place during student vacations and is divided into two types: mini holiday missions, which involve a group of volunteered students, and major missions, engaging the entire fellowship.
We Educate
The subgroup program includes educational activities for village boys and girls, typically held before or after weekly Bible study. These tutorials have effectively engaged primary and secondary students, yielding positive results. Many participants have progressed to higher institutions and graduated with good grades, showcasing the program’s impact.
Visitation & Welfare
The program includes outreach to village students who have gained admission to higher institutions. Efforts are made to provide support, such as stipends and foodstuffs, based on available resources and divine guidance. This initiative aims to assist these students as they transition to further education.
Scholarship
We are in search of opportunities to help as many youths as possible. We approach student missionaries and we noticed that many village students struggled to pay school fees due to their families’ low economic status. In response, we began supporting some students by covering part or all of their fees. This initiative aims to help these students concentrate on their studies, stay committed to their faith, and avoid negative influences.
