Interviewer: Give us your name, marital status, department you graduated from, and the years you were in the subgroup.
Interviewee:
My name is Bro Kehinde Ezekiel Oladeru. I am married to Sister Godiya M. Dawi from Borno State. We are blessed with two boys, Olaniyi Samuel Oladeru and Adewole Favour Oladeru.
I was in the 2012/2013 session and graduated from the Department of Philosophy in 2017. I joined the mission subgroup in my first year at school and remained there until I graduated.
Interviewer: Present location?
Interviewee:
Presently, I am on special assignment in Borno and Yobe States as a security personnel.
Interviewer: Your state of origin?
Interviewee:
My state of origin is Osun State.
Interviewer: Did you hold any post while in the mission?
Interviewee:
I did not really hold any post while in the mission, but at a point, I was one of the old hands in the Idu axis of the mission fields.
Interviewer: If you could turn back the hands of time, what would you do differently?
Interviewee:
I would have been more committed and related better with everyone than I did then.
Interviewer: What was your most memorable experience in the subgroup?
Interviewee:
My most memorable experience in the mission group was meeting brothers and sisters who were on fire for God. I remember Brother Tobi driving joyfully for missions, Brother Tosin P… Tos, Bro Tobi Ajayi Samuel, the prayer coordinator who later became mission coordinator, Sister Moji, Kehinde, and many, many more. There was no other place I wanted to be than in that fellowship of committed brethren.
Interviewer: Is there anything mission-related that you are doing right now?
Interviewee:
The only mission-related thing I am doing now is personal evangelism and my little involvement on this mission platform.
Interviewer: What motivated you to join the subgroup?
Interviewee:
My joining the mission was almost predictable because it seemed to be my natural area of service. God must have built and led me in that direction. Since I gave my life to Christ in a dramatic encounter at Amazing Grace Baptist Church, Bauchi State, the passion for soul winning and missions has been in me. I also had experience joining the church youth group on mission trips to completely pagan communities where we showed the Jesus film and planted churches. However, I got to BSF OAU and the mission as a sleeping giant who was awakened there. Thanks to the induction believers’ or discipleship classes we had.
Interviewer: What is your advice to fellow alumni?
Interviewee:
My advice to fellow alumni is the same thing I tell myself: now is the time to get more involved because it is easier now. You do not have to be physically present, and we are better equipped in knowledge, faith, and conviction that this work is worthwhile and rewarding.
